Prabhjot Sodhi

Prabhjot Sodhi is the Sr Program Director of Circular Economy at Centre for Environment Education (CEE) with 40 years of experience. He has previously worked as Head of UNDP Circular Economy and has 12 years of hands-on experience in implementing Circular Economy strategies. He has also served as Country Program Manager for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) UNDP Small Grants Programme (SGP) for 14 years and Program Manager for Department for International Development (DFID), United Kingdom, and Government of India (GOI) in KRIBHCO for 13 years.’

Prabhjot Sodhi, with a total of 40 years’ experience presently (June 2021 onwards) Sr Program Director, Circular Economy at Centre for Environment Education (CEE).Previously Head UNDP Circular Economy – 5 years working with multiple donors in the space of Circular Economy (plastics) – Coca Cola, Hindustan Unilever Limited, HDFC Bank, Nyara Energy and Coca Cola FoundationWorking hands last 12 years in implementation in Circular Economy (CE) - sector strategies, systems thinking, materials flow, recovery centre, competence development programs, business models, informal sector, including safaii sathis (waste pickers), address the EPR domain, partnership across Governments, including ULBs, Civil Society, Recyclers in the domain of waste value chain.Country Program Manager for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) UNDP Small Grants Programme (SGP) for 14 years anchored through MOEFCC. Program Manager for Department for International Development (DFID), United Kingdom, and Government of India (GOI) in KRIBHCO for a period of 13 years.- In 2012, awarded the Talented Conservator Award by The George Washington University, Washington DC, USA. - In 1998, awarded the `Most Excellent Order of the Member of British Empire’ (MBE) by Government of the United KingdomPublished works in International and National journals. Widely travelled and facilitated studies, meetings, workshops, and conferences at National and International levels. Mr. Sodhi has written ‘LOW CARBON LIFESTYLES’ which was released in COP20 in 2015 in Paris by the then Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar, Government of India.Mr. Sodhi has a diversified experience in leading and implementing projects in a wide range of areas in plastic waste management to climate change, natural resources, land development to livelihoods of poor, and marginalized in the tribal, rural, and urban spaces for the last 40 years. He is a passionate, open, self-critical, and reflective individual.- Nominated as a member of Waste to Wealth Mission of the Principal

- Member in all 11 Committees - Niti Aayog, Government of India to

ensure Circular Economy Approaches.

- Nominated as a member of the UN Global Plastics Speaker.

- Nominated by CPCB and MOEFCC Secretary of Committee to draft the

Extended Producer Responsibility Guidelines for Plastics & Dry waste. In 2022 September conferred by UGC supported CV RAMAN UNIVERSITY, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh – Professor of Practice. This has been in recognition of the experiences and knowledge on a range of issues.
