Amit Verma

I currently serve as Director at NITI Aayog in Green Transition, Environment and Climate Change vertical and Economics & Finance vertical. Previously I have worked at NITI Aayog in diverse verticals like Trade & Commerce, Disinvestments, Strategic Economic Dialogue, G20, Circular Economy, and Energy with focus on renewables and Green H2. I have also served as Private Secretary to Honourable Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog and in the office of CEO, NITI Aayog.

I am a Sustainability expert and a development professional with profound experience in sustainable and climate resilient natural resource management; environmental law; energy transition; sustainable livelihoods; public policy formulation, implementation and analysis; community outreach; strategic planning; program implementation; project monitoring and evaluation, with an overarching objective of sustainable development

I completed B.Tech.(Mechanical Engineering) from IIT Bombay in 1998, M.Sc. (Forestry) from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy in 2007, Master in Management Studies (Public Policy) from IIM Bangalore in 2020 and Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law from NLSIU, Bangalore in 2023.
